KEONJHAR

Keonjhar, also known as Kendujhar, is a district located in the northern part of the state of Odisha, India. It is known for its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and historical significance. While the district is not as well-known as some other tourist destinations in India, it has several places of interest for nature lovers and those interested in exploring off-the-beaten-path locations. As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, here are some notable tourist places in Keonjhar:

  1. Sana Ghagara Waterfall:
    • Sana Ghagara is a picturesque waterfall located near Deomali in Keonjhar district. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery, making it a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and trekkers.
  2. Gonasika:
    • Gonasika is a sacred place situated amidst dense forests and hills. It is known for the origin of the River Baitarani. The Gonasika Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva attracts pilgrims, and the scenic beauty of the surroundings adds to the charm of the place.
  3. Murga Mahadev Waterfall:
    • This waterfall is located near the village of Rugudi. The cascading waters, surrounded by dense forests, make it a serene and tranquil spot. It’s an ideal destination for a day trip amidst nature.
  4. Deomali:
    • Deomali is known for being home to the highest peak in Odisha. The Deomali Hills offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The region is popular among trekkers and adventure enthusiasts.
  5. Badaghagara and Sanaghagara Waterfalls:
    • Badaghagara and Sanaghagara are twin waterfalls located near the town of Keonjhar. These waterfalls are surrounded by lush greenery and are popular picnic spots.
  6. Baladevjew Temple:
    • Located in the Champua area of Keonjhar, the Baladevjew Temple is dedicated to Lord Balabhadra, a form of Lord Krishna’s elder brother. The temple architecture reflects the cultural and religious heritage of the region.
  7. Tarini Temple:
    • The Tarini Temple, situated on a hill, is dedicated to the Goddess Tarini. It’s a significant pilgrimage site and is visited by devotees seeking blessings.
  8. Handibhanga Waterfall:
